Personen die unserem Blog folgen, könnte vielleicht schon aufgefallen sein, dass wir auf Fotografie stehen! Surprise, surprise. Für uns geht es aber nicht nur darum selbst den Auslöser zu drücken. Nein, wir feiern auch andere – gute - Fotografen. So zum Beispiel Ella Don! Die Mittzwanzigerin ist in Nürnberg bekannt wie ein bunter Hund, keiner kommt an ihren Bilder vorbei. Grund genug für uns zum Plausch zu laden:

Ey, warum fotografierst du eigentlich?

Warum? Wasn das für ne Frage! Die Kamera ist einer meiner besten Freunde. Außerdem lernt man immer wieder coole Leute kennen und kommt rum! Meiner Meinung nach lassen sich mit Fotografie so viele Genres abdecken, das ist der Wahnsinn! Egal ob Portrait oder gestellte Situationen, für mich ist es die ausdrucksstärkste Form der Kunst.

Aha aha, und warum in Nürnberg, hat das einen besonderen Grund?
Naja, ich lebe eben schon etliche Jahre hier, habe mir schon ein gewisses Standbein aufgebaut... Man bleibt wo man ist – erstmal! 

Erstmal?

Nürnberg ist eben nicht die kreativste Stadt. Ich mein klar, die Gegend rund um mein Studio mit den unzähligen Künstlern ist ziemlich nice! Sonst hat Nürnberg aber wenig Inspiration zu bieten. Es läuft langsam vor sich hin, wenig Innovationen.. Naja, Vorerst bin ich hier. Aber nicht für die Ewigkeit!

Ja? Wo willste denn hin?

Alter, es gibt so viele geile Orte auf der Welt! Meine Favs sind Osteuropa und Istanbul.

Okay.. Warum Osteuropa?

Zum einen komme ich ja ursprünglich aus Osteuropa.. genauer gesagt Russland. Zum anderen liegt mir die Mentalität. Die Einstellung ist komplett anders. Dort ist man noch bereit für Qualität zu zahlen.. Man zeigt auch eher was man hat. Außerdem helfen Kreative dort alles zu lockern, es ist ja doch etwas konservativer als in Deutschland.

All right. Und Istanbul?

Ich liebe den turkish way of life! Die Leute sind total locker drauf und dann noch die türkische Küche, der Shit einfach! Die sind eben ein Feiervolk, das gefällt mir! Mir gefällt aber auch das bewusste Wahren der Traditionen. Die gehen ja heutzutage eh immer mehr verloren..

Also keine deutsche Stadt, sehr patriotisch!?

Naja das kann ich jetzt so nicht sagen. Berlin ist zum Beispiel ganz cool. Ist ne arm aber sexy Stadt. Ist das nicht sogar der claim Berlins? Ganz im Gegenteil zu München, der Pimmelstadt. Die Pimmeln sich da alle auf! 

Haha, Pimmelstadt? Aufpimmeln?

Das Gehabe. Jeder spielt sich auf als wäre er irgendwer. Man versucht ständig sich zu profilieren um etwas auszustrahlen. Ich mach einfach meine Arbeit, bin wie ich bin und mag es nicht mich zu verstellen. Deswegen mag ich die Pimmelstadt nicht.

Ella Don ist also Real?

Klar. Viele Leute sind überrascht wie authentisch ich bin. Das hat zwar manchmal den Nachteil, dass mich Leute nicht mögen aber das ist mir egal. Ich brauche kein Alter Ego. Dafür sind die anderen Leute zuständig. Im Nachtleben beispielsweise. Tagsüber sind die meisten Leute arbeitende Ameisen und nachts werden sie zu Adlern die Abenteuer suchen!

Du bist ja ne richtige Poetin!

Na aber hallo! Hab auch schon ein paar Shortstories geschrieben. Die gibt’s auf meiner Homepage. Ist aber nicht für jedermann zu finden.

Gut okay. Ich schick dir nen Link. Ist aber nicht für die Öffentlichkeit, also psst. Ich sag nur soviel: Es geht darum wie ich aus einer Rockerkneipe rausfliege! Aus der Zeit stammt übrigens auch mein Name. Ich hieß in der Szene damals nur „die Don“. Und „die“ heißt auf Spanisch Ella... 

Das Geheimnis ist gelüftet! Themawechsel: Woran arbeitest du gerade?

Ach, das ist unterschiedlich. Ich mache zum Beispiel Lookbooks. Hab letztens erst eins für CASLY gedropt. Aber auch Bilder für Online-Shops. Gerade hock ich an den Aufnahmen für den ADAM&EVE Online-Shop. Und wenn das Geld für die Miete und den Rest verdient ist, kann der Spaß beginnen!

So so, welcher Spaß denn?

Nicht das was du denkst! Wobei.. anyway. Ich liebe es mich durch die Fotografie auszuleben und mit anderen Künstlern zusammen zu arbeiten. Hab mal die Texte eines sehr kreativen Schreibers visualiert, das war mega! Er heißt Kristian, wie er mit Nachnamen heißt weiß ich nicht. Ich hab auch einen leichten Hang zur Kunst. Vor Allem Installationen und Skulpturen feier ich!

Deine Lieblingsfarbe?

Hö? Hm, lass mich überlegen... ich würde so spontan Weiß sagen!

Wie ausgefallen.. warum Weiß?

Sie ist einfach eine unbeschriebene Farbe. Wie ein unbeschriebenes Blatt Papier. Man sieht es und kann je nach dem subjektiv Interpretieren was man will. Sie lässt einfach viel Spielraum für Kreativität. Ach und Schwarz ist auch ganz cool, vor Allem in Kombination mit Weiß. 

Jetzt wo du es sagst. Du fotografierst sehr viel Schwarz Weiß.

Oh mein Gott ja. Ich liebe Schwarz Weiß Fotografie! Sie lenkt den Fokus auf das Wesentliche und drückt aus was Sache ist! Farben können von der eigentlichen Message ablenken, finde ich. Außerdem ist Schwarz Weiß klassisch und zeitlos.

If you follow our blog, you may have noticed that we really like photography! Surprise, surprise. For us it is not just taking pictures. We also love other photographers, if they do well! Like for example Ella Don. This mid-twenties photographer based in Nuremberg, Germany, is well known by allmost the whole town.. Lets Talk:

Ey, why are you photographing?

Why? What a stupid question! My camera is one of my best friends. You get in touch with so many cool people and see different places. In my opinion photography enables you to cover several genres. Portrait or posed situations.. for me it is the most expressive sort of art.

Aye, and why in Nuremberg, is there some specific reason?

Well, i have been living here for years.. I built myself a leg to stand on.. You stay where you are – for the moment!

For the momemt?

Yeah, nuremberg is not really creative. I mean of course, the area around my studio is quite nice. Thanks to all the artists working here! But apart from that there is not much inspiration in Nuremberg. It is progressing very slow, no real innovations. I am here. But not for Eternity!

Yeah? Where do you wanna go?

Dude, there are various awesome places! My favorites are Eastern Europe and Istanbul.

Okay.. Why Eastern Europe?

On the one side I have my roots there. Originally I came from Russia. On the other side I like the mentality. It’s completely different. I mean customers for example are willing to pay well for quality. You show what you got.. Furthermore creatives help to relax within the system which is more conservative than german..

All right. And Istanbul?

I just love the turkish way of life! Turkish people are so open and friendly.. and the food! Oh my god I love turkish food! They celebrate their lifes, i like that! But I also like that they protect their traditions. Nowadays no one cares about that anymore.

So no german town, very patriotic!?

Well that is a bit difficult to say. Berlin for example is really cool! It’s a poor but sexy city. Isn’t that the official claim of Berlin? In contrast to Munich, this „*!#!*-town“.. they act up for nothing!

Haha, „*!#!*-town“? Acting up? Explain!

Their behavior. Everyone acts like they were vip. Allways trying to distinguish to be something. I am just the way I am, doing my job. I dont like to disguise. That is why I dont like Munich.

So Ella Don is „Real“?

Of course! Most people are surprised how authentic I am. Well, sometimes it can be negative because some people may not like you. But I dont care. I dont need an alter ego. Other folks can do that. Like the peeps in nightlife. During the day they are working ants. By night they turn to eagles looking for adventures!

You are such a poet!

For Sure! I wrote some short stories. They are on my website, but you cant find them. Just for selected people!

Hum, all right. I send you the link. But it is not for public! I will give the reader a clue: One story is about me getting kicked out of a bikers pub! Oh by the way, my name was originated during these time. I was called „Die Don“ – german for „The Don“ – I translated it into spanish, so thats my name: Ella Don!

The secret is revealed! Topic change: What are you working on right now?

It depends.. Sometimes I make photoshoots for lookbooks. Recently i shot some for CASLY. I also make shootings for Online-Shop or normal peeps. And after I earned the cash for my living, I get my pleasure!

So, which kind of pleasure do you mean?

Not what you think! Well.. anyway. I love to express myself with photography. I love to collaborate with other people, most with other artist. Once I visualized some texts of a very creative writer, that was awesome! His name is Kristian.. hum, I dont know his last name haha. I am also into installations and sculptures!

Your favorite color?

What? Hum, let me think about that... spontaneous i would say white!

Really fancy! Why white?

It is just an unwritten color. Like a paper left blank. You can interpret what you want. It gives you a wide range for creativity. Oh black is cool too, especially in combination with white.

Now that you say, I noticed you photograph much black & white.

Hell yeah! I love b&w photography! You focus on the essentials, colors can distract from the main information. In my opinion! And yeah, besides b&w is classic.

Do you have some booze here?

No not in the studio. There is a great bar around the corner!
